Frequently Asked Questions

Caring for Your Soap

To help your soap last longer, allow it to dry between uses by storing it on a well-draining dish and keeping it away from standing water.

If you use your soap multiple times a day (like at a basin), consider cutting the bar in half. This keeps the unused portion dry and extends its life — so it stays firmer, lasts longer, and retains its lovely scent.

What Is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process is a traditional soapmaking method where oils and butters are blended with a lye solution, triggering a natural reaction called saponification. This produces soap rich in natural glycerin, which helps to hydrate and protect the skin.

Why Is Cold Process Soap Better?

Our bars are crafted with organic plant oils and butters, and include a “superfat” — extra oils left unsaponified to enhance moisture and gentleness. Unlike commercial soaps that strip the skin, ours leave it soft, nourished, and comforted.

Who Are Your Soaps Suitable For?

Babies & Children

We recommend our unscented Little Women bar for babies and young children, as it’s gentle and free from essential oils. For older children, mild oils like lavender may be okay — but always patch-test first.

Pregnant Women

Many mothers-to-be prefer fragrance-free products during pregnancy.

Our Little Women soap is a safe, soothing choice.
If you prefer scented bars, check the essential oils listed — some, like fennel, are best avoided. Always consult your healthcare provider if unsure.

Sensitive Skin, Eczema, or Psoriasis

Again, Little Women is often best. It avoids essential oils and potential irritants.
If trying a scented bar, patch-test first and avoid citrus or strong oils. Always follow your GP or dermatologist’s advice and avoid using soap on broken skin.

What Does “Organic” Mean?

Our products are made using oils, butters, and botanicals grown without harmful pesticides or chemicals. This supports both your skin’s health and more sustainable farming practices.

What Makes Your Products Eco-Friendly?

We’re committed to low-impact, thoughtful practices — from sourcing organic, biodegradable ingredients to using recycled paper packaging. It’s our way of offering beauty that’s kinder to both people and the planet.

A Short History of Cold Process Soap

Cold process soap has been around for thousands of years. The ancient Greeks and Romans were among the first to create early versions, blending olive oil and ashes to make simple cleansing bars for both personal and household use. By the 7th century, the first hard soaps were being crafted in the Mediterranean, and by the 19th century, soapmaking had become a true art form. Our soaps carry this heritage forward, blending tradition with modern values.
