Soap Poetry is an independent British soap studio, founded in 2025 in Ayrshire by Frances and John Burridge.

The Love of Soap

We’ve always loved good soap. There’s something satisfying about it — the joy of unwrapping a fresh bar, the creamy lather, the soft fragrance.

Once a fixture in every home, the humble soap bar has, in recent years, been edged out by plastic bottles filled with synthetic gels. And with it went a little familiar comfort.

Our soaps are made with nourishing plant butters and oils, giving a rich, creamy lather and gentle scents from essential oils. We set out not just to make a soap that’s beautifully packaged and full of heart — we wanted to make a soap that’s a joy every time you pick it up. We think we’ve done that: our soaps last longer, feel indulgently creamy, and leave behind only their story — never the ‘forever chemicals’ that trouble our waterways and bodies. Best of all, they leave your skin feeling clean and cared for. 

The Love of Literature

Books are our constant companions. Their characters and lines pop up in everyday life: an asparagus — or any vegetable — mishap makes us think of the March sisters in Little Women, or a breath of morning air in the garden brings to mind Colin in The Secret Garden, when “the strength poured into him like a flood.”

It felt only natural to let these stories guide our soap-making. Each bar blends scent and story to capture a place, character, or feeling from our favourite books — making for daily luxuries with books at their heart.

What We Make

We create our cold process soaps, a mineral salt soak, and a nourishing body oil by hand, in small batches.

Our scents range from dark and resinous to floral, herbaceous, and green — each inspired by the emotional landscapes of our favourite books. All our butters, cold-pressed oils, essential oils, and botanicals are COSMOS-certified organic and sourced from trusted UK suppliers.
